Let the red man get ahead man

Here's a little taste of our inauguration experience...we were hoping to get tickets to the swearing in ceremony, but alas we requested our tickets through Matheson and should have thought to ask Bennett's office :(  Because the weather has been SOOO cold we decided to get front row seats in front of our television.  Saturday we drove down to the Capitol, parked right on Constitution, and hopped out of the car to see the set-up.  It was really cool to see the thousands of chairs and flags on the Capitol building.  Then we drove along Pennsylvania Avenue visioning the parade, and feeling satisfied we had experienced enough (especially when our faces hurt from being outside the car for only 10 minutes).  Then this morning after watching the news and feeling the excitement we decided to walk down to see the crowds.  Even at 11 AM there were thousands of people continually streaming down 18th toward the mall.  We peeked at the White House through tall black temporary fences, then checked out St. Johns Church.  After some steamed milk from Breadline we headed home listening to Aretha Franklin's My Country Tis of Thee in the background.

Alicia - we did the exact same thing! We went down today actually and saw the aftermath...quite the scene. Fun living in D.C eh?
