Given Henry's recent interest in American history, we thought it was high time we took him to Colonial Williamsburg. We were originally going to go to upstate New York to see Palmyra and Niagra Falls for the holiday, but on Thursday night neither of us had the energy to pack for a camping trip or for the long drive.
Our friends Reza and Christy were here from Ohio and stayed with us. We had a great time with them and then left on Sunday to drive down to Richmond to stay with our friends the McCormicks and then on to Williamsburg on Monday.
Despite the hefty price for an admission ticket, Williamsburg was really cool. The people in the shops were very knowledgable and we learned loads. Our favorite thing was learning at the silver smith's that they used to physically chisel silver coins in halves, quarters, etc. We also liked the reenactment of Martha Washington visiting the capital.
One of the highlights of the trip was going to the cabinet makers. They had a harpsichord that they had made that they let people play. Alicia dazzled everyone with some Mozart. The guy who made it said it was the best it had ever sounded and he let her play the other harpsichord he was making. She got a thunderous applause for her performance, so thunderous that it woke a sleeping Henry.
We had great sandwiches for lunch at this place called the cheese shop, and we liked it so much we went back for dinner.
Tuesday Zach played hooky from school and we went to Jamestown and then to the beach at Yorktown. It was interesting to see Jamestown and Alicia had to hold back from singing "Have You Ever Heard the Wolf Cry?" when the park ranger started talking about Pocahontas. We loved hanging out on the beach, Zach thought that it sure beat sitting in Creditor Rights/Debtor Protection.

That looks like so much fun. He could get so many ladies with that hat. And I just remembered something else that needed to be on the list...vomit included. But now I forget the other thing I wanted to add. Also, how did we not get an entire derr-ghazimoradi photo?

Yes, yes it was high time you took him to Colonial Williamsburg. I mean, I find a huge deficit in my historical knowledge due to the historical sites I missed before my first birthday. ;) You are such good parents.
