He was happiest when he was freed from the bondage and oppression of the backpack and was able to eat sand and throw rocks.
He is so into chucking things that he threw his hat into a ravine and Alicia had to go down very carefully and get it without falling to her death.
On Saturday we went to Snow Canyon, which was beautiful and not crowded. We hiked on the petrified sanddunes and Henry refused to be in the backpack. He wandered on the rocks in his bare feet because we left his shoes at the house.

We like to have contests when we go to public places. Things like "best fake coyboy" at a rodeo, or "teenager most likely to be a drug dealer" at the State Fair. This couple won the contest before we even thought of it. Passing them twice on the trail to the Narrows entrance, the unbelievable cleavage this woman was sporting made her an instant winner. It was a good four inches of unbuttoned endlessness. We caught up them on the road and had to snap a picture.

I'm glad you made it down the ravine and back alive. It looks like the trip was a success (especially after finding the winner of the best cleavage award! and a photo through a car window! a triumph!) Oh, and the crib looks great!
Alicia,
We went to the Petrified Sand Dunes on Friday! The kids LOVED them. We also went to Jenny's Canyon that is a small slot canyon in Snow Canyon - you'll have to go when your kids are older - ours loved climbing up the walls. I love your description of "unbuttoned endlessness"!
Zion is the best. Looks like fun. In the spring time we should meet up there.
ha! they have the same haircut. looks like you guys are taking advantage of all that wonderful west-ness. miss you!
